The demolition of the mining tower at the Lazy mine

Client and Challenge

Austin Detonator, a leading manufacturer of industrial detonators and electronic initiation systems for blasting, approached us with the goal of documenting the demolition of the iconic mining tower at the Lazy Mine in Orlová. This 80-meter tall, 16,000-ton structure had served for over 40 years and was set to be brought down using their innovative E*STAR Gold electronic detonators. The aim was to create a compelling video capturing the entire preparation process and the demolition itself.

Our Solution

For this unique project, we designed a comprehensive documentation plan that included:

  • Filming the preparations: A two-phase shoot over the two weeks leading up to the blast, focused on capturing the detailed preparation work.

  • Aerial footage: Use of drones to provide bird’s-eye views of the site, offering the audience a unique perspective on both the location and the demolition.

  • Multi-camera coverage: The blast itself was recorded using four cameras, allowing us to capture the event from multiple angles and create a dynamic edit.
